CHOREOGRAPHIC DESIGN

Choreographic design is an investigation in movement that seeks to fine-tune the body’s attention in dialogue with nature and culture, constituting itself as a pedagogical and artistic system in constant transformation. It is part of the doctoral research of choreographer and researcher Marina Vieira Nabais (Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon) and is a transdisciplinary project, crossing dance with the social and human sciences. This proposal takes the form of a living laboratory, where modes of regeneration and sustainability are experimented with based on the articulation between permaculture and movement. The goal is to open art to life and return life to art, dissolving disciplinary boundaries and creating inclusive experiences accessible to both professionals and non-professionals. Heterogeneity is assumed as a vital force of the process, creating a space of utopia and expansion of artistic practice beyond institutional limits. Started in February and formalized in September 2025 in Portugal, the project will continue in 2026 to Chile, between March and May, and to Brazil in June and July, returning again to Portugal, in academic and non-institutional contexts. It will take different formats: laboratory, performance class, masterclasses, theoretical presentation, and video exhibition.
